Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 had its theatrical release on August 15, becoming the largest opener of 2024. For the first two weeks, the film grossed double digits every day. Despite a modest decline in numbers in the third week, the film is well on its way to reaching the Rs 500 crore mark in India. On day 15, Stree 2 earned Rs 8.25 crore, according to Sacnilk. With this, the film’s total earnings currently stand at Rs 432.80 crore.
On Thursday, August 29, Stree 2 had an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 16.5%, according to the study. The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. It also had cameo appearances from Tamannaah Bhatia, Akshay Kumar, and Varun Dhawan.
On Thursday, Bollywood trade expert Taran Adarsh provided an update on Stree 2’s box office performance on X (previously Twitter). He stated, “Stree2 continues to display a rock-steady pattern, with a minor decline on its [second] Wednesday compared to Tue… This strong showing on weekdays, especially after a spate of holidays, suggests that the film is in for an excellent Weekend 3.[Week 2]: Friday 19.30 crore, Saturday 33.80 crore, Sunday 40.75 crore, Monday 20.20 crore, Tuesday 12.25 crore, and Wednesday 10.40 crore. Previously, Rajkummar Rao spoke with News18 on Stree 2’s box office triumph. The actor stated, “We were confident that the picture would receive a lot of love because of the reception that Stree 1 received. Stree has a large fan base, which includes me. I am a major fan of Stree. However, these results far exceed our expectations. We are overjoyed and excited. There is a great deal of gratitude that this is occurring with a film like Stree, which is content-driven.
The Stree series is part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy world, with Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. Stree 2 is produced by Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande through Maddock Films and Jio Studios.
